Big Changes Ahead For Gearing Up – The Community Bike Workshop In Wigan
After 10 years in the Brick Works we’ve decided it’s time for a change. We’ve had a great time and it’s been a pleasure to work with such a great team – and some really fabulous customers and groups. Thank you all.
As you might be aware we had some concerns late last year about having to move premises. I’ve also had to think about retirement (I’m older than I might want to be).
Thankfully – and with help from the Brick and Wigan Council – we’ve found a way to keep our space in the Brick Works. On top of that we’ve been developing some new ideas to be able to offer low cost bike repairs, maintenance and skills training. Things will be different – and it will take us some time to put the new ideas into place – but we really hope that you’ll continue to support us.
Up until the end of March the workshop will be open as normal for repairs, servicing and bike sales. Just turn up – or book in advance.
Then we’ll take a break. The workshop will be closed in April / May. Then, from mid-May we’ll be offering some new services and projects and we’ll be publishing details in the next few weeks. We will not be opening as a bike workshop as we have in the past.
We’ll be putting details of our new projects on our new website over the next few weeks. These are the kind of things we’re planning:
- Community Bike repair club
- Bike refurbishment club for volunteers
- Maintenance training sessions (sponsored by TfGM)
- Easy start bike rides
